The skid blocks are made from titanium , and when scraping over the asphalt the 10 mm skid blocks will make a lot of sparks and finally they will burn ..
Once they start burning , the titanium will release "a very distinctive smell-odor" into the air .
They can smell it , from behind the pitwall and pitlane...
On LEW's Merc , the typical burning titanium smell was extremely strong !
That's why LEW was picked and checked ,and disqualified with his cheating Merc floor ..
