I'm not 100%, but my understanding is no to both Carly and Bimmercode. e-sys is really pretty easy to set up and doing the coding itself might seem daunting at first, but it's not hard at all. Just need a windows laptop* and a $20 OBD to ethernet cable.

Happy to answer any questions if you try to do it. I did a few others like TPMS shows actual tire pressure and temp and turn signals in HUD while I was at it. Also easy, but those carly/bimmercode can do.
*preferably not a work-issued one as they tend to block stuff. Mine blocked the javaruntimes it uses.
