I have the same issue. 3 years ago. They said it was the lane departure weight that was cracked and replaced it. It stopped making the noise and restarted last year. BMW told me it was the turn signal frame and replaced it at 25% of the cost, even though it was under warranty. I picked up the car. Same. I returned it and they said it was the steering column hitting something. They foam-padded it and it is not as bad, but is still there. Ruins the experience. I am not sure if it is good or bad that I am not the only one.
