I just went through this w/ my 2015 M5 CP so I'm pretty familiar w/ the process. It wasn't too much of a pain but it took BMW nearly 75 days to make the change.
I think you can buy CPO vehicles from BMW and still have the warranty. I don't think it's accurate it's only valid from a private seller.
