These tires are much better than summer tires when road was below 40 degrees F and without snow and ice. To drive this vehicle in snow of any kind, it appears it may be best just to make the investment with a dedicated set of smaller and thinner wheels and true winter tires.
About two weeks ago, we received a good amount of ice again in Maryland. I needed to run some errands, so instead of using the old Jeep, I wanted to try out the tires again with mainly just ice on the roads. The temperature was in the mid 20s and in these conditions, just ice and no snow, the tires did a better job. Maybe the tread design does not self-clear snow well. I felt the tires were above satisfactory on this trip as I had no issues stopping and going up hills.
