I had this problem with mine...
there is a very long story to this and a certain dealership tried to shaft me over the repair which resulted in me going to the motor ombudsman even though I got quite a big good will gesture from BMW...anyway in my case it was apparently the bulk head grommet.....
Seems as though you have already checked the major spots know to have this potential issue but im willing to bet its the bulk head grommet. Feel free to DM if you need more info
