Thank you for the info, mine whines when it is cold out when I rev it just slightly on a cold start. Sounds like an old Chevy power steering with low fluid.
I don’t have the whine like in the video in 3rd gear high speed though.
It isn’t a horrible whine but not what you would expect from a bmw.
I’ll check out the tensioner. |
Your noise is 100% the power steering pump. When the fluid is cold, it's more viscous, causing more pressure in the pump impeller housing, causing the pump to work harder, making it whine.
