I wait for the cat heat-up cycle to end and the engine returns to low idle. That gives me time to fasten my seat belt, put my phone in the holder and put a smile on my face... and then gently drive off until the engine is up to temperature. My drive from home is a six mile drive at 40 and 45 MPH, which is plenty time to get up to operating temperature.
