Before I got the 535 GT, I was looking at a 550 and test drove it a few times. However, I have now driven the 535 GT for almost a year now. Besides for the power, the normal road handling characteristics of the F 5 series is all very similar. Again, I have not taken my wife's car to the track, but in sport plus mode it handles better than my old X6 but not as well as her E60 528i. All told, you can feel the weight/mass of the F 5 series more than the E 5 series. The GTS hides the weight/mass better in my personal experience.

Again, I am positive that most people will experience this if they test drive both cars by pushing them slightly on some back roads or freeway on/off ramps.

I am not marginalizing the power difference between the cars. The M5 torque is CRAZY and the thrill of it is probably enough buying justification for 99% of the people who want and can afford this car.
