I am not a typical Max fanboy but...
F1 etiquette is and has been for decades: when a backmarker comes across the race leader - backmarker Gets The F K out of the way!
Let me put it this way.
If some lapped and out of the points backmarker would have crashed into a raceleading Schumi, Senna, Mansell or Piquet (to name a few). This would happen:
