Nah, I don't really baby it.
I start it and go without hesitation or warm up. But I'm pretty gentle with it until the engine is up to temp.
I use Liqui Moly oil, make sure the spark plugs are to spec, always use high quality brand minimum 91 fuel, and pay close attention to any engine codes.
On replacement parts (plugs, coils, oil filters, etc) I stick with genuine bmw parts built for the M5. I'm sure the generics are fine but saving a few $ is not worth the risk to me.
