One set of Tires for the One Lap week...

One set can last the week, even on a heavy car...
It is mostly a "how well can you warm-up?" style event.

The road course time trials at each track normally happen twice per venue...
For instance, in the Morning and then again after lunch. During each session, you take an un-timed warm-up lap then stop at start/finish to await your turn for a standing start. When the green flag drops, the timing starts.
Your total elapsed time for the 3 laps determines your points.

Fastest car wins. It's pleasantly simple.

A top of the line street tire such as the Michelin Pilot Super Sport will usually be quite good for the short duration of the timed laps. The PSS is currently the ONLY tire that is BMW approved for the F10 M5. Besides, R comp tires are not allowed in One Lap of America rules.

It is not in one's interest to choose a radical alignment (i.e. lots of negative camber) that will wear the inner shoulders on the highway transits. Damaged tires from road hazards are really the only legal reasons to change tires during One Lap.

At the drag strip, there is a run to go for a low ET and to estimate a dial-in for the bracket drags. Only the finalists on the drags do more than about 3 runs. Not all that bad on the tire unless you insist on doing spectacular burnouts.
