Still an issue, warranty until 120k on it, though. It's hit or miss, you may never have an issue. Depends on the history of the car, but a mass majority have replaced at least one. 08 has the oil cooler so you're fine on that. I believe valve lifters have been an issue, but not very common.

Typical BMW knowledge: Front control arm bushings will go bad around 100k, window regulators, sensors will go bad.

Nothing bad, just know that you will have new things needed to be replaced periodically. The rest of the car will be strong, but tiny things will occasionally fail. It's a love/hate relationship, you'll see what I'm talking about with time .
