F1 has a lot of rules to slow down the cars and make them harder to drive (no active suspensions, no active anti roll bars, no active aero, no ABS, no traction control, no V8 engine, etc.)
BTW in Lemans LMP1 class where you can do whatever you want, the winners tend to be AWD cars.

I remember Willams F1 engineer once said if F1 is truly no limit, by now cars could be pulling 7G + (easily 2000 HP, AWD, all wheel steering, possibly 6 wheels, and etc) at the corners and drivers probably would have to wear some sort of a G-suit like pilots in Jets in order not to pass out while driving.
