It's a numbers game for the insurance company, if they got a high salvage bid on the car (likely) and they can keep the customer happy by making it 'go away', they'll do it even if the amount of damage appraised doesn't necessarily meet or exceed any type of total loss threshold that particular insurance company uses. Whoever fixed it went as far as to pay the bucks for an OEM comp wheel, can't imagine they cut any other corners but I'm sure we'll find out in the next video he posts up.
