Sometimes transmission jump from D to 1D. Why?

Hello, I've been driven a BMW F10 M5 I want to buy and I noticed this problems:

Sometimes when you drive in D, the gearbox jump randomly in 1D without touching it, it normally should switch between D and 1D (manual mode) when you touch selector, but it simply goes in manual mode for no reason sometimes.

Another problem is that from 80km/h the steering wheel start vibrate a little and the faster you go the harder it start to vibrate and also the board vibrate, is like steering wheel shake too fast.

Another problem is that the car feels like a 535D, is that normal? Maybe I am wrong? Car feels like 350-400 Horse Power, not like 560.

Let me know if this are easy to fix problems, thanks.

Ok then it looks like the car has been through a tough time before perhaps abused too much, I'd ask the seller to sort out those things or look for another.

I am not sure about how a m5 should feel, I driven it for the first time, and it was the first m5 I have driven, but I did not feel 560 horse power for sure. Seller does not give so much info about what problems the car might have. He only said it needs new tires or to fix the wheels.

Maybe you're touching a paddle shifter? And what M5Rick said, I'd find another car. If you've never had an M5, that car should be scaring the crap out of you.

I’m pretty sure while in D mode, the display will always show the current gear and D. While in manual mode, the display just shows the current gear. As for sluggish feeling, make sure to put the throttle mode in sport plus. Efficient mode feels very unresponsive.

Even in efficient there's no way it can be described as sluggish.

I would tend to agree, but even my 8000 lb diesel truck feels more responsive than my M5 in efficient mode. The M5 will still get up and go but you have to get pretty far into the pedal. Sport plus mode on the other hand, is quite playful.

^ I use sport plus to get the oil temp back to the first digit when in town on hot days and as you say it's great fun.

Sounds like you don't have DPs and tune...

I do actually. Like I said, the car is plenty fast. It’s just the throttle response in efficient mode is very tame. I’m also used to 600hp cars that weigh 1000lbs less and a truck nearing 800 lbft of torque.

I agree with this. Efficiency mode is very tame on my car. I some times use sport or sport+ around town to have better throttle response.

Dropping a gear or 2 always solves that for me. It's the difference, I believe by design, between Clark Kent and Superman. I don't often use sport or + putting around my little town full of cops, as well as D2 or D3 unless I find the opportunity to push M1 and rip it on an empty road. Traffic is a bitch here in Florida. Nothing like Atlanta tho.

Efficient mode feels so slow even with the dp’s and stage 2 tune. I can’t believe how slow my car feels now that I’ve put it fully back to stock for smog. Makes me appreciate how much faster the car is while stage 2. I mean my M5 is my only car so it’s not like I’m driving other cars so maybe I’m just so used to having all that power all the time it feels so normal to me now.
