Need help deciding on a tune
I recently installed an iPE exhaust with iPE's catless downpipes, this caused my car to get a check engine light. One day I got a warning that said "drivetrain malfunction" when I put my foot down but it was gone the next day. CEL is still on and I was told I need to tune to get rid of it. Wanted your suggestions on what tune I should get.
Most important thing to me is saftey, and I am looking for more power. Feel free to share your experiences with tuning your M5's and let me know if you go the "drivetrain malfunction" warning too. |

Being that you are new, I suggest you use the search function here on the forums. There is a ton of information about this here on the forum. In short though, just get a flash tune and you'll be fine.

If you can source a BMS CANN Tool, it can get rid of your CEL.
I believe that doing that would also prevent the DTML error too (although that is disputed).

BMS just released the JB4 kit for the f10 that will delete the CEL. Will actually keep it from coming on.
With your downpipes and exhaust, I personally feel a tune may be in your favor Last edited by 13M5F10; 08-18-2015 at 12:16 AM.. |

There is a few tunes/piggybacks available for your vehicle. I also feel this would be the best route for your needs. Plus the added power im sure you will enjoy. If you need help or any product info you can contact me anytime.

I know you wanted me to do that before. I haven't measured any trap speed. I don't have a way to measure. Actually I never got caught up in doing any of those. I had bms. I know what it did and against it's competitor. I know what my car felt like when it had too much timing and issues associated with my first tune. My current tune is very reliable w no issues and can beat some fast cars that a piggy can't touch. I guess that's one reason I had no need to conduct timing runs. Too many variables that extend from driver to driver and road conditions.

Saw 1 - M235 xDrive EnzoTuned (ECU Flash) w/ just M-Performance Exhaust and did 12.7 1/4 mile, while the other friends Full-Bolt-Ons M235 (1 manul, 1 AT) with JB4 couldn't break 13.2/13.3 and had more mods lol. ECU Flash ftw done by the right tuner since there's a lot of wanna be's out there too. Now the M235 EnzoTuned got chargepipe/downpipes, and 1 of the JB4 m235 retired the piggyback and got flashed as well

Based on my experience and having BMS since i bought my car like Day 2,with 1700 miles on her, and ever since then i had bms till 2 days ago 15,000 miles later, and did DME tune. Now i realize what other Dme'rs were expalining how bms can be inconsistent at some point. Although i love my jb and havent given me any problems at all only problem was, that 160 speed govt which was a pain since the car wants to go more but, it still limited. Thats the only thing i am disappointed and the only way to tKe take off is through Dme tune. Without a doubt Jb is best bung for under $1000 (if u include a can tool for cel light) But. After i took my jb out, night before before I head to Acm tune, wow what a Change! The power band is super consistent no lags super smooth as i keep doing harder pulls seems like the dme is adapting more n more to my driving and it keeps getting faster Nd faster without hesitation and no limiter.
Benefits of DME TUNE - speed governing raise to 210 -cel light delete for catless dp -cold start delete -smoother more consistent power band Bms tune -best way to make power under $1000 -1st mode if you are under budget -you will love this for power gains -you can add 100 and ms109 without no problem as it was adapt to fuel. |
