Did BMW ///M Mess up?
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com Did BMW screw up on the M5? It seems to be having mixed reviews from members on this forum. So say its to heavy, others say its just perfect. I test drove the M5 before ordering it, I liked it, but what can a 10min test drive prove? So my question is... do you like it? Would you order it again, is the car worth every penny paid for? |

In the end, it's all about what YOU like, not what others say. If you like the car, then it should be worth every penny you paid for it. my 2 cents.

The steering, handling, acceleration, and comfort are really second to none. Additionally, for the price, the F10 M5 is such a great deal. I cannot think of another car at that price point that even comes close to delivering such a fantastic driving experience. I personally came from driving Mercs for almost a decade, and after driving the new M5 was I drawn to BMW. I had test driven other BMWs over the years, and it was only the 2013 M5 that compelled me to leave Mercedes. I KNOW that I now have a car that will satisfy all my driving needs for the foreseeable future, and I am sure that you will feel the same after living with the M5 and experiencing it daily in real life driving scenarios.

If I lost my M5 tomorrow, I would buy another one.
Can it be improved? Yes Is there a better sports sedan on the market? No In my opinion it is so much better than the Panamera GTS and the Panamera Turbo. The car really is excellent. Every day I look forward to time at the wheel.

I love it. It's no Ferrari, but If a Ferrari and a 760i had a child, it would be the M5.

I smile every time I hear that exhaust rumble, and the M appears in the HUD at start up. First, I would buy the same car again no regreats from this owner. Second, you do have many on this board that have not driven the car .....too much car and driver reading. Third, you have to make the best choice for you and not what others think.
Based on the above posters you are hearing from a few of the car owners, and some of us took delivery in Germany. I hate to say it too many posters just complain about the car as it should have been gods first creation. All in all I can't wait to drive my M, and for the price coupled with crazy performance please find me better. Good luck with your choice! |

I echo what most have said. It's truly personal. It the best all around daily driver for me. That being said, one of my friends loves his Cadilac, another loves his Panamera GTS. they both say they prefer them over my M5. Who am I to argue? To make it even more complicated, my friend with the GTS owns a new M5 as well. That's just his taste over mine. I test drove it a couple of times on his recommendation, and didn!t like it nearly as must as the M5.
Some guys just love the McClaren and some like me just hate it. Yep, I said hate it. Drove one for a week and just didn't understand how someone would buy that car. I could get into why, but it just doesn't matter. Just my opinion. So... Moral to the story, each to their own.

I am going to address the weight issue head on because I don't think people understand it.
The weight has increased, but the grip and lateral traction has been increased commensurately. The car can corner very well as an M Car should. It isn't a straight line car like the E63, CLS63 or S6. The M5 loves corners.

Even though I have my disappointments in M5 F10 due to it not being as hardcore and track-oriented as I hoped and experienced so far. But even then, I would buy this car again if I didn't have it. It's the best sedan in the world in terms of performance, design, safety, value and status

The M5 is a car with a Jekyll and Hyde personality. The tamed car to get you to the office is Jekyll and the wild for the tracks personality is Hyde. Again, it is a personal preference just like a necktie, it's either you like it or not. I have no regrets getting it and will buy another one, but then again it's just me.

Coming from an E93 M3 and 335i sedan, I can tell you that the M5 is the best car BMW makes, and imo, it is the best all-around car on the market. Many reviews complain about the steering and the "soft" feel of the car, but the new M5 has improved over the E60 in every category and is often compared to the panamera GTS and turbo which cost 40-80K more. There is no better choice at this time!

Nonetheless, it feels bigger and heavier than the e60 (because it is). That doesn't keep me from loving the car. I'm amazed at the performance, and haven't even found the limits yet.

From what I read, the car is a but wider, and about 5 or 7 inches longer than the e60 which is nothing for a car. I do hope that it does not feel too big. I like the e60 because of how easy it is to maneuver. It feels so easy and nimble. Can only hope the f10 carries that same feel.

5-7 inches is a massive amount for a car...think X3 to X5. The F10 is 200lbs heavier though, which is what does detract a bit from the nimbleness. That said, the chassis is better equipped to handle the weight and torque is monstrous. Go drive another one.

M5 will not be a letdown. Plain and simple. Everyone can find something to love in this car, will post a thread soon about my first month's impressions
