M5 Nationwide meet, Timmayfest 2013, Columbus OH, June 6th - 8th
MODS...please dont move to regional forums.
Timmayfest is back and looks to be bigger than ever this year. Details below. Timmayfest 2013 - Columbus, Ohio June 6th, 7th, and 8th What is Timmayfest? Timmayfest is a BMW/Mercedes Benz/Exotics car meet put together by true enthusiasts. It is not a car "show" and there is no entrance fee, it is just a gathering of people who share a passion for high performance driving machines. Timmayfest really started out as a small BMW/Mercedes car meet of people who only knew each other by talking over online car forums such as M5board.com, Ohiobimmers.com, and MBworld.com. We decided it was finally time to get together and meet the people behind the computer screen. We chose to hold it in Columbus, Ohio since it was a central location to those involved. I volunteered to organize it along with help from a few other local guys. Jokingly, we named it "Timmayfest" after my screen name that I use on the before mentioned forums, Timmay77, which against my better judgement, it has remained. The word spread that there was going to be a car meet in Ohio through other online forums, thus growing. We managed to put together 130 cars the first year (2010), over 200 the second year (2011), growing to 250+ in 2012. We had cars attending from as far away as Rancho Cucamonga, CA, 2 years in a row! This year we have decided to raise money to donate to the ALS Association to help the fight against Lou Gehrig's disease. (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis). Homepage - ALS Association Event schedule: Thursday, June 6th - Arrival Dinner - The Pub, Polaris - 7pm - For those arriving Thursday, we will have a dinner gathering at The Pub in Polaris. It is practically next door to the Hilton where most of us stay. (Hilton information given below) The Pub 1554 Polaris Parkway Columbus, OH 43240 614-781-7829 Friday, June 7th - Dyno Day - IPS Motorsports - 9am - 2pm - We will again be holding a Dyno Day at IPS Motorsports, 3 pulls for $50. If you would like to have your car dyno'd, PLEASE call IPS and preregister. They will dyno as many cars as they can in the time given. IPS Motorsports 8333 Green Meadows Dr. N. Suite C Lewis Center, OH 43035 740-657-3278 Friday, June 7th - Drag Night - Marion County International Raceway - 4pm - 11pm - We have privately rented MCIR for our use. Buckhead Imports Performance is sponsoring the track this year! Thank you BIP! I can not stress this enough, if you wish to drag race, please, PLEASE, contact me to prepay. (timmayfest (at) yahoo (dot) com) This will help us TREMENDOUSLY with letting people in at the door and not having to deal with a cash exchange. Entry to the track is free, but there is a $50 charge to race. Given the amount of people racing, you can get in 20, 30, 40 runs if you want, really, as much as your car can take. We will also be traveling to MCIR, caravan style, leaving from the Hilton hotel at 3pm. This was a great drive last year, complete with a rolling camera crew. (Thanks Marcus and Travis) Marional County International Raceway 2303 Richwood-Larue Road La Rue, OH 43332-9293 Saturday, June 8th - Timmayfest 2013 - Quaker Steak and Lube Polaris - 10am - 3pm - We are meeting at the same venue as the last 3 years, Quaker Steak and Lube in Polaris. It is a very convenient location with plenty of hotels, restaurants, and the Polaris Mall right across the street. We will of have a DJ spinning some tunes and plenty of vendors with items on display. We will be selling Timmayfest T-shirts and raffle tickets to raise money for the ALS Association. The raffle will be for items donated by our sponsors starting at 3pm. Quaker Steak and Lube 8500 Lyra Drive Columbus, OH 43240 Saturday, June 8th - Police escort to dinner - 5:30pm - We are hiring a police escort again this year to travel to the restaurant. (Donations for the escort are greatly appreciated! If everyone could chip in $5, it would cut my cost in half.) This was my favorite part of the weekend last year. They COMPLETELY shut down all of the highways and surface roads for us! We will meet at IPS Motorsports (8333 Green Meadows Dr. N. Suite C, Lewis Center, OH 43035) at 5:30pm for a driver's meeting and to be lined up by our police escort, leaving promptly at 6:20pm, dinner is scheduled for 7pm at La Scala Italian Bistro. Here is a note from an officer concerning a police escort: "A full blown escort by 2 cruisers and 2 bikes is serious business. We can't have guys jumping line and acting like idiots. You will never know when a bike is flying up at 120mph to get the next on ramp blocked. If you jump line, it could cause serious injury to that officer. If you can't follow the rules during this 15 mile escort, you will be asked to not attend dinner, and you WILL be ticketed. So please, everyone act responsibly and let's have a blast!" If you wish to not participate in the escort and just meet us at the restaurant, that is fine too. Dinner reservations are set at 7pm. La Scala Italian Bistro 4199 W. Dublin-Granville Rd Dublin, Ohio 43017 Saturday, June 8th - "The Afterparty" - Following dinner, we all head back to the Hilton to enjoy a few adult beverages and some shinnanigans. Here are some addresses..... First, when parking at the Hilton, if you park in the fire lane for ANYTHING except checking in and checking out, you will be towed without warning. We had some issues last year. They were very lenient with us, but they will not be this year, which leads me to my next warning.... We can not use the lot behind the Hilton ever again to line up for the escort, or for anything that has to do with our event. Why? Because last year people where doing doughnuts and burn outs in that lot on Friday during business hours and during the night(s). They also found a substantial amount of broken alcohol bottles in the parking lot each morning after we stayed there. These incidents made it rather difficult for me to #1 schedule a place for the escort to start, #2 get them to give us a discounted block and staff a 2nd bartender on Saturday night. Let's try to be a little more responsible this year please..... |

Thanks for organizing this.
My parents live in Powell, and I visit them at least once every summer. I'd like to check out a few events this year, I'll try my best to come. Seriously, all the locations here are basically 10 minute drive from my parents house. The last 2 years, I tried to make it, but my schedule did not allow for it. But I'll try my best this year to attend. |
