Raped by a Z06 (unknown mods)

Hope this owner finds this thread and tell me that this Z06 is NOT stock.

Perhaps I was dumb to try 2nd gear at 60mph or I need a tune.

Hell, what did I expect? I only have DPs and Exhaust.

Video does not do this justice. The sound of the Z06's exhaust was terrifying.

With only dp's and exhaust your car is putting down maybe 530-550whp and your car weighs 4390+ driver, etc.
The Z is putting down similar hp and torque numbers but weighs 850 pounds lighter + driver, not to mention its moded obviously.
That video is what I would expect given the 2 cars and info. Who knows what the Z has?!?
Get a tune and you'd probably walk away from him just as he did to you.

I'm glad that won't happen to mine. 2nd gear is fine to start off in. You just need a proper tune. Look at my thread when I raced my buds 458.

appears that a stock z06 will gap a 458 worse.

Yeah I mean stock z06s way gap a 458... Not sure why yours was so close. Was his 458 tuned or anything?

Tune your M5...I did the same thing in my 2013 M5 with a Dinan Stage 1 piggyback and beat a 2014 Porsche 991 Turbo. Raced him twice (no video) and beat him both times.

It's modded, stock exhaust is not that loud.
I think for every 100 pounds it's like adding 10 horsepower or so. So he has at least a 90 horsepower weight advantage.
To simplify think of power to weight ratio:
Z = 3500 pounds / 650hp = 5.38 pounds per horsepower.
M5 = 4350 pounds / 560hp = 7.76 pounds per horsepower.

I once ran into a 700+ horsepower 2014 Mustang GT500 and I beat him if that says anything.

Yes, stock exhaust IS that loud. Once the valves open up it's a straight pipe. Add an x-pipe swap to that (removing resonators) and it's even louder, without adding any noticeable power.

Sorry, but the stock exhaust IS that loud. In Sport or Track mode the valves are always open and hence you are avoiding the mufflers. In every other mode the valves open at 4K. If you replace the secondary cats with an X-pipe like the Corsa product it isn't much louder at idle, but does richen up the sound higher up the rev range.

I strongly suspect it's a stock A8 Z06; they're a very fast car, at least to about 130/140 mph when, especially in the Z07 optioned car, drag starts to hold it back.

That is a stock Z06. Sounds like a manual, too. It would've been worse with the auto.

If your car is stock the z06 will leave you quickly as well as a 458. Mine is tuned so that's why I got him. But if the 458 or vette gets a good jump it's hard to catch up

I call bullshit that thing is stock in regards to no mods. Stock exhaust maybe like many have said, seems very loud to me, I'm betting mid pipe, intake, pulley change, and tune.
