How Fast Is Your M5? Predict 100–200 km/h with This Power-Based Formula
I've seen many discussions across various forums about how engine power translates into 100–200 km/h performance for the BMW F10 M5. So I analyzed real-world data from GPS-measured runs (Dragy and others) and built a simple but effective power-to-performance formula.
✅ Reference Data Points 560 hp (Stock F10 M5) — ~7.8 sec 700 hp (Stage 1/2 F10 M5) — ~6.5 sec 785 hp (Stage 2/3 F10 M5, personal log) — ~5.94 sec 📐 Derived Formula Based on these data points, I constructed a second-degree polynomial to estimate your 100–200 km/h time based on engine power in hp (P): t = 0.000003585 * P^2 - 0.01309 * P + 14.0055 Where: t = time in seconds P = power in horsepower (crank) 📊 Example Calculations 560 hp (Stock) → ~7.8 sec 700 hp (Stage 1/2) → ~6.5 sec 785 hp (Stage 2/3) → ~5.9 sec 850 hp (further tuned) → ~5.5 sec (extrapolated) 🔧 Curious how this compares to your setup? Feel free to share your setup, power level, and 100–200 time below — we can refine the model further together. Last edited by snoep; 05-12-2025 at 02:15 PM.. |
