Rear Brakes - Service light
The service light for the rear brakes on my F10 M5 came up recently.
I took a look at the rear brake pads by looking through the wheel opening and see it's worn down but there's still sufficient material left. Remaining pad material is approximately the same thickness as the backing plate. I tried resetting the service light through the cluster, however, as soon as I start the car and drive, the notice pops up again. Does this mean the brake pad sensor is tripping the service light? I feel like the remaining pad material would still last at least another 10K+ miles. Have you guys experienced this before? |

If you feel you have sufficient brake pad remaining, your sensor could be compromised. Have you recently had a wheel/tire removed? This happened to me a few years ago. I believe the reminder comes on when the pads wear down below 15%.

Yep, as Blaxwil stated, you're getting low. If driven normally, it'll last a while.
The warning won't go away until you replace the pads and sensors though. |

Brake pads don't always wear evenly.
You could try and take a picture and post if you feel that you have plenty of pad life left, but for some reason your brake sensor is telling you otherwise..... |
