m5 f10 cooling question

I am new member here, just got my m5 f10 last wensday, alpine white, with 20" wheels.

i noticed when i stop the engine, that the fan of the cooling system keeps on running (for about 3-5min). Even after a short drive (10min), with cold outside temperature and slow driving. (oil temperature is normal, no issue)
Is that normal.. dealer said yes, because of the turbos.

i can hardly believ that, what happens after spirited driving in hot weahter (i guess the fan must even harder working for at least 10 min, after stopping the car..)
Never had an issue like that on other turbo cars nor on the e60 m5.

What are your experience with the f10 cooling after engine shoot down.
Is that normal

thanks for any inputs

My fan always runs after stopping the engine. After long drives at high speed it runs forever it seems......

So is this a normal thing and due to the location of the turbos in the v, and therefor a big heat development when the engine is stopped

Any idea if the cooling is on its limits during spirited driving on hot sommerdays

Yep - this is probably normal, my current F10 550i does this as well.

Its a very tight engine bay for the M5 engine, so extra cooling measures were needed.

Water pump also runs after engine is switched off to cool turbos, but its not loud ( same in other turbo BMW models)

The fan in my wife's 2010 X5 335D often runs for several minutes after the engine is turned off. This is normal operation on all BMW models.

Large engines - on some
Small engines (330,325, 316 ect) - no

VW's- even on tiny engines and the fan can come on at any time, even if the car has been standing
