Another newbie
Hi all,
Proud owner of a new M5 last month and only just found the forum. Came from an Aston Martin V8 Vantage (57 plate) and as a comparison the M5 is certainly quicker and more of a GT car; overall a much better vehicle. On the negative, the exhaust note is really disappointing (reading about the Cyba Carbon Tips atm), also find she is rather sluggish off the line, especially at lights and roundabouts in day to day driving. Based South Manchester if there is a local meet. Rich |

Hi Rich,
I'm also a newbie to the M5, although have been on this forum before. Previously owned an X6 and loved it so much I couldn't decide what to replace it with. Anyway, I eventually decided on a whim and picked up my M5 last month too - it's actually at the dealers today having its running in service completed. I'm Monte Carlo blue with Silverstone interior and love the combination. I think most people agree with the exhaust note; lots of threads on here and I know the Akrapovic is highly regarded as a replacement - albeit the price is eye watering!! Also, I agree with the sluggish starts in efficient mode. It's ok in sport and super ok in sport plus!! I'm really impressed with the new idrive and the online entertainment - I have Napster. The only issue I had was connecting an iPhone 4S to work with the office function but have been able to get a work around sorted at least for text messages. I have the adaptive LED headlights which are just brilliantly bonkers! Incidentally I'm not too far from you in Staffordshire. Mark |

Great to see more UK owners here - Welcome !
I am still trying to find my car/color combination - leaning towards MCB or Alpine white - not sure ? I haven't seen many M5`s around London but I am sure there are many out there ! Out of interest - Did any of you go down the leasing option? It seems tempting although I can buy the car outright although the advice i get is that ownership is not a good idea because of depreciation etc. would be good to get your thoughts |

Hi chaps and welcome.
If you want improved sound without the eye watering price, see my thread on the forum about Turner Motorsport Muffler delete system, I've put a bad quality video on there too, I'm off to the Alps on Wednesday, so I'll definitely have some better quality videos, drive bys etc up for you guys to listen to mid Sept. By the way, I would say it is 25% of the price of an Akra (fitted). |
