Highly suggested to wrap or coat them - cylinders 4 & 8 can become hotter from the radiant heat.

Just got my downpipes from Evolve Automotive today - I'm taking them over to the coating company who powder-coats all of our BMW charge coolers. He's the best one in town, and does a lot of work on all types of coatings for many of the high performance companies in So-California (rods, pistons, cylinder heads, poweder-coatings, etc).. he recommended that I get the inside sprayed with a copper lining, and the outside with a titanium ceramic coating. I get a good guy deal, it's $40 p/ sq. foot of coating for the process. I'll post photos of the pipes once I get them back..

Yes, you 100% want to have the exhaust parts ceramic coated.
I would also advise to purchase a good quality heat wrap. This is the company that I use, they have amazing customer service as well. Lots of high performance companies use them. They also make turbo blankets and other items to control temperatures. Note : removing the factory catalytic convertor allows a lot of heat to expel from a supplied downpipe that is NOT ceramic coated. The heat will be baking onto the engine and it is proven that both back cylinders #4 & #8 will being to show issues like misfires for example. There will be a increase in cylinder wall temperature, etc... https://www.ptpturboblankets.com/ Last edited by schnell1982; 08-08-2018 at 04:27 PM.. |

From asking a local company in Temecula that offers it, they have 2 heat ranges. I don't know the spec off hand but this is their contact information.

You can also contact JetHot as well. They coated the downpipes and other misc parts for us on Rubens 1000+rwhp S63.

If you look at a lot of race cars or engine's that are highly modified you'll notice ceramic coatings and different types of heat wraps / foils to protect from heat. |
