Manual Transmission F10 M5 Finally Spotted. Hallelujah!
BIMMERPOST NEWS Manual Transmission F10 M5 Finally Spotted. Hallelujah! One of the most oft asked question regarding the upcoming F10 M5 production car is whether it will come with a manual transmission option. BMW has already announced that the F10 M5 will have a 7-speed DCT transmission, but has been mum on confirming whether or not a 6-speed manual would be made available. With these photos, it now appears that indeed there will likely be a manual transmission option. Manual purists rejoice! It's certainly odd seeing a stick shift next to an electronic e-brake, but we'll take manual option regardless. A manual transmission would be mated to the F10 M5's turbo 4.4L V8 with northwards of potentially more than 560hp. It's not yet confirmed which markets will receive a manual transmission. Why is the gear pattern covered? Likely to hide the car's identity as an M car. Unless... it's to hide a 7-gear manual shift pattern? Time will soon tell. Full specs and tech details of the production F10 M5 will be revealed in just about a week's time - first in an online release early next week, followed by the world public debut at the M Festival at the Nurburgring -- on the night of Thursday, June 23rd (German time). So stay tuned! Follow all our F10 M5 coverage @ http://www.bimmerpost.com/m5/f10m5/ Source: Edmunds |

Not so exciting for me. It is hard for me to imaging shifting a luxury car, especially when today's automatics are so sophisticated.

I love that they camo'ed the shift knob lol.
There is something perverse yet wonderful about rowing a stick in a car the size of an M5. If I was much better off I would have one this way only. Edit- Looks like the car will have an adjustable exhaust sound, check out the botton among all the bottons by the shifter that looks like a muffler, second from last.

Old School here, along with the power I want to shift! Glad to see BMW thinking of keeping a manual as an option. Sorry it's a car, not a video game.

People complain about not having a 6mt and then nobody buys them. Same with the E60 platform. Barely anyone bought the manual. At least a few will have them

can anyone speak to the other three buttons? I would imagine the suspension icon allows you to shift between suspension settings, the tachometer image could be some kind of M mode? (thought it would be on steering wheel), and I don't know what the wheel icon would be...thoughts?

As a manual purist, I rejoice.
I ordered new to get 6mt. And may I say, in 10 years, a used 6mt '12 M5 is going to be looking like a great option

Being a manual guy.. I am really happy they came out with this option. Definitely gets me thinking of going back to ///M in the coming year. Excellent job BMW, another massive differentiating factor from the competition. This is the kind of option the #1 premium auto manufacturer can make happen.
For goodness sakes a used 2010 ///M5 is selling at BMW Toronto for 102K... and its 6 speed.. the only one in the country.
