528i 2014/15
Hey guys I’m from Brazil and I got my first BMW, a 528i 2014/15 80.000km.
I was told that this car is not known to have big problems, correct me if I’m wrong haha. And I was wondering what things I have to take a close look in the car or to expect from a 80.000km car. And one thing we have to keep in mind is that the roads from Brazil is waaaaaay worse than the Americans and Europe roads so the cars here are. Idk if the comparison is correct but we can say that a 80.000km car here is like 100.000 or 120.000km in USA or Europe. Any tips to maintain the car is welcome too. If u don’t understand something I said just ask me to refrase and I’ll do it. |

Hey welcome! I don’t own a 528i but if I’m not mistaken, it uses the inline 4 cilinder turbo engine. It’s the same engine across other models as well (N20). Check for timing chain issues, I’ve seen problems with the plastic guides with these engines.

I have a 2014 528i with 180,000 km. Timing chain was done around 145,000 km and had a lot of play in it. Engine would’ve been gone by now if I didn’t replace it. Also this engine chews through motor mounts. I’m on my third set. Other than that, I had a coolant sensor issue and a fuel level sensor issue. Pretty reliable ride overall. Wouldn’t hesitate to drive it cross-country.
