2nd car recommendation
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com I've driven the M5 through winter with proper winter tires and had no issues in the city, but will now need a 2nd car for the wife and we are thinking something with utility, preferably awd to deal with the winter. I don't want to get rid of m5, so was thinking to get a small suv like x3,q5 or Subaru Forester if go on budget. But then I don't like the idea of 2 big cars (m5+big suv) afterwards. I like the m5 and another smaller car combo for the family. Like m5+gti or m5+911 4s. Any suggestion what I should get for a 2nd car if I keep M5?

I think you need to reconfigure the garage. It partly depends on whether you want both cars to be family friendly or not (e.g. how many kids you have).
My brother has 3 kids, and it isn't unusual for them both to be ferrying kids around separately to different kids events on weekends. So for them 2 4 door cars make sense. I would consider one of these in your case 1) M5 + X3/Macan S 2) X5 + C4S 3) X5M + C450 AMG Coupe 4MATIC 4) E63 4MATIC Wagon + 911/GTi

If I were you, I would keep M5 and get a SUV most likely X5 5.0 xDrive

M5 + X5 with xDrive. I got one as a loaner and really enjoyed driving it
If on a budget, can't go wrong with a Subaru. They are amazing cars and handle the weather well

No kids, no questions - get c4s. I was trying hard to convince my wife that it would be a logical upgrade path from M3 but had to concede after watching my 9 year old not fitting into either c or m6.

Then get C4S, and at some point replace M5 with an SUV.

No kids?
Easy. Audi R8. Done. Next Question. R8 has AWD traction for the snow (with winter tires of course), looks more exotic than the 911, you can get the R8 with a 6MT, SMG, or DCT, easier to attach a ski rack to the R8, has more daily drive ability than the 911, far cheaper than the 911, V8 or V10 sounds better than the Flat 6 (not saying the Porsche engine sounds bad, because it sounds really good actually), and has a bigger cabin than the 911 with more utility. Also there are generally more Audi Dealerships around offering more support than Porsche. If you need something with more practicality or utility, I'd say either some sort of German Wagon, or a Euro SUV/SAV. X6M or Range Rover would be my choice. The Audi All Road is pretty awesome too, tons of utility and can plow through high snow drifts like nobody's business. The new 2016 C63 AMG Wagon is pretty badass too. If you want something that is a no-frills play around in the snow and almost don't care if you crash it car, then I would consider a Mitsubishi EVO. The AWD system in those cars are pretty impressive and with snow tires you can be doing some gnarly snow drifts all over town.

IMO get a Macan GTS, it will be an extremely fun car for winter!

Although this and next winter are supposed to be warmer than usual (as already evident in mid 50s temperature in early December here in NYC).

I know it was bad in the Boston area, but down here in DC it wasn't that bad.
