As far as I'm aware, there are no limits on the age of the car if all previous owners have claimed the VAT back.
However, in order to reclaim VAT on a car purchase, the car must be used for business purposes only - this means that even using it to drive to/from work, or to pop into the shops to buy something for yourself (not covered by business expenses) en-route between meetings are excluded. Should you do so, from a legal standpoint, you are evading tax. I may just be cynical, but I just cannot see an M5 as being purely used for business purposes with absolutely no personal use at all... a 520D maybe, but not an M5.
