New 2013 M5 Owner - Hi
Hi guys,
I never thought I'd ever own an M5 or BMW for that matter, but I now do. A fully loaded (Exec. Package, Driver Assistance Package, 20" wheels, B&O stereo, etc.) 2013 in Monte Carlo Blue. I got it as CPO with only 17k miles for a price I prefer not to disclose, but it was slightly lower than market (SF Bay Area). I feel like I got a fair deal considering the mileage, features and condition, which are all excellent. From finding it online, showing it to my wife and buying it was a matter of four days. I originally was planning to buy a Subaru STi at the end of November, as I'm a huge Subie fan and have owned a WRX prior), but the opportunity presented itself (mostly my wife saying "okay"). Taking the long view on this purchase, I probably would have spent the same or more on modifying the STi than the M5. I know there are certain responsibilities with the M5 that I'm aware of and plan to be accountable for, which may end up costing more than any modified STi (plus repairs). Hoping for a seamless ownership, but prepared for...stuff. More than anything, super, super excited to have this car in my garage! Unfortunately, I have to wait until this Sunday to pick her up from the dealership, as my ride (wife) is out of town and I'm on solo-daddy duty. Hopefully it won't rain between now and then. I'll be giving her a proper wash and detail once she's home. I also just bought a Kranzle 1122TST pressure washer and a couple Rupes polishers (among a boat load of other detailing products). All these detailing products I bought BEFORE even considering an M5. Now I have a matching German pressure washer and car. Thanks for having me, hope to share some stories along the way. I'll be posting stuff on my newly created Instagram account (consumerfanatics). Sorry for terrible phone pics, but it was all I could muster with my two-year old son in one arm and the rain pouring down. |

Welcome to the fold. You will find this community to more mature and helpful than any other car community out there. Please feel free to ask any questions you like but also use the search function as much as you can.

Tune, downpipes, drop ins, side vents, LCI kidneys, and diffuser...maybe height adjustable springs and sway bars.
Done. saved you months of research And if things get serious: clutches, Pure turbos, meth, R888's, and axles |

Haha, tempting, but it's going to be a no. I truly feel this car is perfectly fine stock (and this is coming from a guy who modifies EVERYTHING). Time will tell, but this is my "end game" car purchase.

congrats.
funny you say it's perfectly fine stock. I finally drove a completely stock m5 today, and to be honest, the sound is pretty sad. You should definitely do something about it. Sound is important. |

I guess this is a "Generational" thing. At 48 yrs old I find the stock exhaust pleasing, After 32 yrs of driving I find most after market exhausts "annoying" these days.

This will be a semi-daily driven car, which will handle chores such as dropping off the kid at daycare (and eventually pre-school), picking up my elderly inlaws, and taking business associates to lunch, etc. |

all the more power to you. Just think a 550hp car should sound appropriate. My comp package exhaust was actually "decent" but it wasn't enough, so did the downpipes because i want to terrorize people. Either way, enjoy!! |

I am kind of in a similar boat. Did you pick her up from Peter Pan (San Mateo) by any chance? Could you share the OTD price? I have been researching for about a month or so. Looking at pull the trigger in late December or January. Need to make some space in the garage |
