Got rear ended today

I got rear ended while sitting at the red light today. We are ok but I'll need a new trunk and rear bumper. No damage to the exhaust. Does anyone know about diminished value? Or how I find out the information? I tried to upload pics but files are too big.

Call your insurance agent, they need to help you negotiate. They should also be able to tell you the deminished value. Otherwise call dealer and ask on trade in value impact.

You should get a loaner car or a payment for a loaner car for every day the car is out of commission. I'd also give their insurance company as much about the cost of your car as you can. Window sticker, bill of sale, etc. chances are they have no idea what kind of car you have. Perhaps most importantly - you chose the body shop - find one you want to use and get an estimate. Don't let them dictate who you use. In addition - new BMW parts ONLY! It is their job to make this as cheap as possible for their company - it is their only goal.

Noo! That's sucks man. Sorry to hear this. Errr they texting of something? At least the other party has insurance too. What a pain. Diminished value will definitely effect resale. The insurance will put that on the Carfax. You might even have to deal with a salvage a title. Same thing happened to a buddy of mine. He eventually just gave the car the Carmax because of the diminished value.

Please, stop. Why on earth would he have to deal with a salvaged title?

Yea Dave the asshole was in the phone. I told him I sure wish you weren't talking on the phone when you hit me. The jerk! I hope this doesn't go on carfax. I'll never sell it as it's paid for but still need to be paid for the loss value. But yes not much damage that I saw. Bad timing as I leave for work again.

In the scheme of things - not too bad. I'd make the insurance company knows he was on the phone.

That's very minor from the pictures. Might just need a new bumper. The trunk is probably up because the bumper being jammed in. Honestly keep all the paperwork and pictures of before and after the fix as this will help tremendously if you sell it later plus all the findings from a body shop.

Sorry to hear that bro, glad your ok tho.

Mostlikely new bumper boots gotta fight that sunc eu have geico they may be able to do it
Trunk looks like theyll repair it

Make sure you tell them to add blend on the body also, since most adjuster will just paint damage parts and not blend the parts to the body, if your car is newer also may jot require. But if its old got miles wear on paint may fade so i would request the blend

Payment wise through NA wont be possible since its insurance job

Only get NA to pay is if its warranty related

Ins gives u a month of rental try to maximize that In My Humble Opinion

If you have a body shop in mind that is willing to push what u want, go with them, may cost a few lunch sandwich for the body shop guys but its worth it.

I live in nj and my boys body shop was in ny, i brought it there and got what i want. On my beater car
