New M5 Owner

Hello all. New m5 f10 owner here. Was wondering if there are any enthusiasts in the DC, MD, and VA area.

In 2019, it'd be great to get a group of us to do some track days and a few road trips in MD, VA, PA and WV.

I was raised in OH and may take a scenic drive through WV on my way to get to OH this spring...

1. Highland Scenic Highway
43 miles through the dense hardwood forest of the Monongahela National Forest, the Highland Scenic Highway rises from an elevation of 2,300 feet to more than 4,500 feet. With 4 scenic overlooks, you’ll find plenty of spectacular places to stop and enjoy the expansive view of the Allegheny Mountains.

2. Rt 60 Midland Trail and the New River Gorge
The 180-mile Midland Trail traverses the state on historic 2-lane Route 60. The Trail is full of great places to stop and enjoy the scenery, pioneer history, outdoor adventure, local arts and crafts as well as great West Virginia food. Plus, it’s lined with flowing waterfalls.

3. Rt 32 through Canaan Valley
Route 32 is a 20-mile drive from Harman to Thomas. You’ll be mountain driving on twisty roads with elevation gains right through the beautiful Canaan Valley State Park, Blackwater Falls State Park and the Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge. You’ll be surrounded by park and forest lands with abundant wildlife, waterfalls and the hospitable and hip small towns of Thomas and Davis.

4. Coal Heritage Trail
The National Coal Heritage Trail meanders through coal mining history. There are coal heritage sites all over the state, including reconstructed mines, railway lines and stations as well as towns and even an underground mine tour. And all of these interesting stops are connected by roads that criss-cross the state through spectacular scenery.

Sounds like fun! One or two others of us lurking around locally that would be interested as well with M5s.

I'm still assembling a list of possible opportunities.

- Cruze
- Race Course
- Dyno Day
- Drag Racing
- Go Cart Racing

Chime in with whatever you'd have fun trying or doing.

Getting the ball rolling for some 2019 activities

I've sent a message to Tuning Tech FS to determine their interest in hosting a dyno-day for us.

Company: Tuning Tech FS
Address: 1654 Crofton Blvd #8, Crofton, MD 21114
Suggested Date: Saturday, April 27
Suggest Time: 8am-1pm
What is the ideal number of vehicles?
What type of dynos do you have?
Cost per vehicle to have 3 Pulls?
Are you offering any group buys or discounts?

"Dyno testing at Tuning Tech FS"

1. Dyno testing appointments are necessary. Call 443-482-5197, or email us to schedule your appointment.

2. Be sure your vehicle is ready to be dyno tested. Use our Dyno Ready Checklist to ensure you are prepared and to avoid set-backs. Keep in mind that our dyno testing service is not for the purpose of fixing mechanical problems, rather it is to test and obtain data about how much power your vehicle is making. Diagnostics and dyno tuning are additional services.

3. Please complete a Dyno Waiver and Vehicle Information Sheet and bring it to your appointment.

4. Upon arrival, we will inspect your vehicle to ensure it is ready to be tested.

5. Your vehicle will then be loaded on to our AWD linked dyno and three dyno pulls will be performed.

6. You will be provided copies of all dyno graphs on a personalized USB drive.

7. A tuning and modifications consultation can be scheduled upon request.

Tuning Tech is scheduled tune my F10 M5

I made the decision to move forward beyond the currently installed DINAN piggy-back.

I am scheduled to have baseline dynos and then a Stage 2, 93 octane tune installed by Tuning Tech (TTFS) on Monday, June 22, 2020.
These are the BMW platforms they support.

I've heard great things about Frank Smith's shop. He has a vast amount of experience with our F10 M5 platform, many other platforms, and most important, his shop provides stellar post installation support.

In addition, I have spoken with another forum member (Jus10Blake) who had work performed by a north eastern US shop. Unfortunately, the other shop was not able get Jus10Blake's M5 to perform well and caused several odd coding/electrical issues (example: windows would not function). Frank spent extra time, at a very reasonable rate, to determine the cause and correct the vehicle's coding/electrical issues. And yes, Frank was able to get Jus10Blake's f10 M5 running EXTREMELY well too.

I will document my experience with TTFS and report back to the forum.
