New CSF F1X M5/M6 & F9X M5/M8 High-Performance Engine Oil Cooler
New CSF F1X M5/M6 & F9X M5/M8 High-Performance Engine Oil Cooler
Full Press Release: https://csfrace.com/new-csf-f1x-m5-m...ne-oil-cooler/ Steve Dinan’s CarBahn Autoworks originally approached CSF about making this oil cooler to compliment their new S63 Stroker Kit. Carbahn engineers worked closely with CSF to design an oil cooler that could handle the power and heat increases. Now, CSF is proud to introduce the High-Performance Engine Oil Cooler for the F1X M5/M6 & F9X M5/M8, a must-have upgrade for S63 owners. ![]() ![]() Design & Engineering CSF collaborated with the team at Carbahn to ensure maximum compatibility and performance, creating a drop-in solution for both platforms. Designed specifically to handle the extra heat of their new S63 Stroker Kit, this oil cooler built for ultimate performance and power. However, performance isn’t the only reason to upgrade. Many F1X & F9X owners have been forced to replace their oil coolers due to leaks and damage, largely because of their vulnerable mounting position; a problem that worsens with lowered suspension setups. A stronger, more robust design was needed to solve these issues. CSF vs OEM The original OE oil cooler from BMW is an all metal design which would make you think it would be fairly robust. However, there are several weak spots in the design that make it far less durable than it could be. The CSF design resolves these issues with more robust materials and reinforcing weak points. At first glance, the original BMW OE oil cooler appears solid due to its all-metal construction. However, design weaknesses make it far less durable than expected. CSF tackled these flaws by using stronger materials and reinforced engineering to create a superior replacement:
With enhanced cooling performance, increased durability, and precision engineering, CSF’s new High-Performance Engine Oil Cooler is the perfect solution for S63 owners pushing their cars to the limit. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() An Essential Upgrade for Any F1X/F9X Whether your M5, M6, or M8 is a daily driver, weekend cruiser, or dedicated track car, upgrading the oil cooler is a smart investment. Tuned S63s, especially those with upgraded turbos, generate significantly more heat, making efficient cooling even more critical. Excessive oil temperatures can quickly trigger limp mode and, in extreme cases, lead to catastrophic engine failure. CSF’s new High-Performance Engine Oil Cooler isn’t just about maximizing performance; it is also a preventative upgrade that helps avoid costly repairs and extends the longevity of your engine. Installation at Bullet Performance For the first installation and testing, the CSF F10 M5 was the perfect candidate. The team headed to Bullet Performance in Costa Mesa, California, where the oil cooler install went flawlessly. While we were at it, we took the opportunity to upgrade the intake system as well. Thanks to our good friends at Eventuri, the M5 received a Full Black Carbon Intake System, adding both performance and stunning aesthetics to the engine bay. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() BMW F1X M5/M6 & F9X M5/M8 High-Performance Engine Oil Cooler (CSF #8317)

Give me one for free and I'll happily do a test vs the mishimoto on track. =)
Looks to be very similar, but with a ~5mm thicker core. May have greater cooling, but that'll depend on whether the drop in airflow isn't too much. Probably isn't on track, but might be on street. Last edited by vafan13; 02-15-2025 at 07:26 AM.. |

The mechanic who works on the CSF M5 said the suggested oil change is 9 quarts, and that he put ~.5 quarts more for the additional capacity of the oil cooler (9.5 quarts)

It's why an oil change on M5 takes a while draining out and car needs to be with the front end raised slightly and oil filler cap off so gravity can slowly empty old oil in the cooler.
