I'm using hardwire connectors that came with the v1. plug everything in, turn car fully on and I get no power in unit. how can I test connectors? I'm thinking goto RadioShack tomorrow and get volt meter to make sure the green brown wire has the right voltage. what external 12 volt source can I use to test connectors?

1. Use needle nose pliers to squeeze the metal "U" the tap connector that the wire in the overhead console will slide into. Making it a little bit narrower will help the connector cut through the wire casing. 2. Once you snap the connector shut, gently slide it back and forth on the wire. Try these two things and see if you can get it to work.

Echo the above comments and especially check your ground connection. In my E39 and E60 hardwires, I grounded to one of the screws on the sunroof motor.
Seems the green-brown wire in this area has consistently been the ticket for power over the model years, IIRC..... I need to do this mod soon to get rid of dangling wires...

I did the same on my E39 and E60 M5s, however I couldn't get any of the sunroof screws to work when I hard wired into the F10. Had to use the wire as described in he step-by-step instructions quoted above.
