B&O stereo vs standard
Is it really that much better? Or is it more only for the novel appeal of the tweeters coming out of the dash?

And was the stock option in 2013 a H/K? I've noticed the H/K logo on the non-B&O 2014's, but I don't recall if they were also in the 2013's. It seems like the euro spec cars have a 3rd, "hi-fi" option which may be lower than H/K, but I'm not sure.
I sat in a 2014 yesterday and listened quite a bit to the B&O system. I came away pretty impressed with the mids and highs, but the lows were still a bit lacking. I'd like to do the same experiment with the H/K, but I have not found one to compare yet. My MB has H/K and it's fine for me. |

Novel appeal, metal looks nice in interior, pop up lighted is very cool in dash, not enough of an audiophile to tell you much difference, but does sound nice and I have had compliments from some audiophile friends on sound quality.

B&O is better. Lows are much stronger with less distortion (more power).
Worth it IMO. Get B&O, skip driver assistance.

I was wondering what upgraded stereo options people purchased in the after market if they did not get the B & O from the factory. Any good opinions?

WORTH every penny. I have spent 10k+ on aftermarket systems and this one is the best I have heard. For those who don't like it, I would suggest getting a better source (not an iPod) so you can truly appreciate the great engineering of the system. I do have one gripe is the LOW LOW end is a bit weak but thats an easy fix. I need to play with the EQ to have not had time to do that.

Uk does have 3 options.
Standard - not good. Bmw professional - hk system. B and o. I have the hk which I am very pleased with. I haven't listened to the b and O system but given the price difference not something I was considering. |

I was on the fence. Actually changed my order on the last day to have it included. So happy I did. I recommend it.

Do you have a pic of the install. Had a 10w7 and loved it but the enclosure was heaaaavy. What amp are you using to run it??? Was the install 'simple' or did you need to run all the way to the head unit? thanks.

unfortunately i didn't spec my own car, so my car came with the standard 2013 US option, I'm not much of an audiophile but I wanted to know if not having b&o would be something to get worked up about

stock pro (BMW Business) HK B&O now its pro (BMW Business) HK B&O 3.5K for B&O just wasn't worth it. I am a proper audiophile and it just isn't good enough for that cash. Neil.

I was given a 535 for a loaner wwhen my car went in for the 1200 mile service and the standard radio is okay... to anyone who hasent heard the B&O it sounds great. But then getting back in my car the B&O is far superior, forget the center channel speaker, the over all clean sound at high volume and the tight bass is worth every dime. Just get it!

JL HD750/1 The install was simple per JL who talked with BMW. The main amp is in the back...but with active sound, the sound comes through the sub. I may have the loudest exhaust! lol Seriously tho, is there a way to get rid of the active sound? The 81 lb sub actually adds to the rear traction tho! |
