What is the M5 like?????
Hi I have just traded my 1M in for a 2014 M5... As I needed 5 seats and got offered a good price on the 1m ... I pick it up on Thursday this week, I am excited but also a bit apprehensive about it too.... As the M5 is so much bigger than my 1M..... Have I done the right thing?? Please give me some feed back as what you think.... Thanks

Most definately!!!
whilst you wont be able to throw around the m5 quite like the 1M, the m5 is most definately a step up and is the complete package... Did you not test drive?? |

Totally diff animal. It's going to be way more powerful, heavier, more luxury, etc... It's not better or worse... But VERY different than the 1M.

Thanks for that... Yes I did test drive but it only has 33 miles on it so did not want to boot it too much before the run in service... Where the 1M feels go kart like the M5 felt like a big boat... Haha but so much more luxury .. At least I can always say I have had a 1M I am looking forward to the M5

Definitely takes some getting used to. I went from an E92 M3 to the F10 M5 and the power difference is insane. I've had mine for almost 4 months and I'm still getting used to the various nuances of the car such as how much throttle to give in certain driving conditions, acceleration out of corners, from stop lights, etc.
The key for me is I had to go from being intimidated by the M5 to appreciating (and respecting) its capabilities. Congratulations and hurry up Thursday!!!! |

You should rent one from Hertz for a weekend.

I also went from an E92 M3 to the M5. I thought I would miss the nimbleness of the M3 but the luxury, power and torque of the M5 has pretty much wiped the M3 from my memory. The speed builds so quickly in the M5 that you have to be more careful about just stomping on it than in lesser M's. The power is really on another level. Yes, it is a boat, but it's a rocket boat. If you liked the test drive then you will be bowled over when you open it up and feel what that engine is capable of.

Actually what is like to drive an M1 or 1M? -
I am a big car man - So never test drove one, But my little secret, I happen to be one of those guys when I go to Dealership and given a loaner I ask for 3 series instead of 5 series because it is more fun to play with - So I have a hint |

My friend has a 1M, after driving his through the canyons one day, and then driving my M5, the M5 felt large and heavy, completely different deal !! I would not want the 1M as my daily driver but its a blast for a weekend car !!

It is a luxury jetliner...power and torque is an addiction at any speed, specially at high speeds...feels heavy when braking from high speeds, but it is a lot more nimble than it looks...
6MT F10 M5 is a blast... They should start building roads like the Autobahn in the US for these type of cars...soon!!!

Be careful getting use to the power. Like some M3 owners have stated in other threads, you can basically "drive the shit out of an M3" without getting in "too" much trouble if you have good driving skills. I have never driven the 1M but I suspect the same applies. The M5, on the other hand, builds speed so quickly (with more momentum due to mass) that you can easily exceed your skill level or the capabilities of your tires in WOT.
I think every dealership should offer the same advice they gave me the day I bought mine "enjoy the power, but respect the power". I've never forgotten the look he gave me at the time either. It was a very sincere warning. The best part though? This is like having many cars in one because of 160 different performance variations (320 if you consider ass massager on or off! That's a hell of a trade you made. Enjoy! |

to OP: i think you should have kept 1M as its limited and soon will start to raise in value and will be unique, but M5 is completely different animal, you will enjoy! |
