2015 M5 noise help!
Hi guys,
I have a 2015 M5, manual transmission. I wanted to see if any of you ran into the same issue I have; when I drive there is a noise, sounds like a cricket, coming from the engine every time the gas pedal is engaged. The noise can be reproduced even when stationary with the throttle on. It is very faint and it goes away a second or so later after I take my foot off the gas. The BMW shop told me they can't hear at first, than they said they can but can't figure out where the noise is coming from and pretty much told me they can't do anything about it. It's a very annoying noise and I tend to believe it's not normal so I was hoping to maybe hear if any of you experienced the same. Maybe another way to describe the noise is a fan that's out of balance and it flutters or a busted bearing. Thank you. |

Thanks @bimmertones. Can you elaborate? The serpentine belt noise occurs in older engine most of the time from what I read. Is it possible in engine under 10000 miles?

Sounds like crickets. Sound went away for me once I put downpipes, instead I hear it from the exhaust after the install

Something you may want to check, as it happened to me, is the rear-seat ventilation. I had the fan replaced. It sounded like a cricket and faint squealing. It almost seemed like it makes the noise as you are driving / accelerating, but it literally was just the fan motor squealing. Turn off your fan all the way to 0. First do the rear passenger and drive around. If it's still happening, turn off your fan completely for the front as well. See if that solves the issue. When I brought it to the dealership, I pointed the fan out, they verified, and ordered a new one. Not a biggie as you can drive around without using the rear vents.
