New F10 M5 Owner
Originally registered back in 2006!!!
Last Friday I picked up my LCI 15 plate M5 in monte carlo blue with Silverstone interior, the car only has 10800 on the clock. Come from a reasonable line of M cars, 2 E46 M3s then the wonderful E60 M5 - then divorce came and kicked me in the plums and I traded the M5 for a 525d in a vain attempt to save a doomed marriage, what an idiot lol I swore on my last drive in the M5 that if I could ever afford another M5 (I can't) and met a wonderful girl (that bit I have aced) then I would get another. So after having a couple of F10 520ds I was driving the same route I took on my last M5 drive and had an epiphany - quick call to my BMW dealer and I threw down my deposit over the phone!!!! Damn I forgot what proper M power is all about - this thing is nuts and compared to my old V10 could almost be considered economical - almost, and hopefully more reliable as I broke my V10 all the time. This car is spectacular and I am currently thinking this is a keeper for life as fairly soon it will only be hybrid this or electric that. Anyway, this is Paul's history lesson over as I got to drive my car |

Sounds amazing.
I have also just traded in my car for a 2016 66 M5 Metallic Black with Silverstone leather It's has pretty much every extra and covered 8,000 miles, even spoke with the first owner who was a true star and treated the car as I treat mine. It's coming from a BMW main dealer who even agreed to give it its 2 year service 4 months early free of charge. I hadn't seen it or driven one before but I can't wait to own it. What are your first impressions? Apparently the F10 M5 will be a future classic |

Sounds a fantastic car.
I can only compare it in performance terms to my V10. The first thing I notice is sound - or not much of it. It is like a muted E39 M5 but I like it. I like the noise of the turbos as they spin up and it has a nice rumble. I love the torque, the V10 lacked torque and needed its neck wrung to get the performance but the F10 has such a massive spread of power. It is crazy how a 4 door saloon does what it does. Having had many five series I am used to the size but I love how it shrinks around you and the chassis and brakes are superb compared to the E60. I do think it will be a classic, sure it was knocked because of no V10 and turbos but this was the only viable option BMW could take. That V10 though characterful was so damn fragile and the fuel consumption and range was woeful. I was constantly in fear of the next breakage lol. In short I love this car, it looks special and it feels special. Have no regrets |

I'm 3 weeks in to ownership of a 2014 lci M5 with 14k on the clock. Car has a fantastic spec - Monte Carlo blue with black leather. M comfort seats, 343m alloys, comfort access, soft close doors, Bang & Olufsen, split folding rear seat with ski hatch, climate windscreen, extended storage.
Initial impressions are that it's an incredible car. I was looking at M3s but both Cooper's in Sunderland and Halliwell Jones in Southport messed me around. (That's another story!) Anyway as it turns out they did me a favour with their lousy customer service. The rumble of the V8 as it starts to get going is immense. You don't have to push it hard as the torque and the delivery of power is seamlessly smooth. It doesn't feel quick because it's so quiet and comfortable - but do not be mistaken - it's rocketship quick. You won't be disappointed by owning one. |

I’m 2 years in to my ownership...... smiles still there! Also I find you never get bored because you always tyre different powertrain modes!
Just learnings from my ownership to help you: If you want a little extra noise for very low cost I recommend performing the exhaust valve mod. It’s made the sound, perfect in my eyes, without buying a rather rediculously expensive system. Power delivery in wet / cold, beware of the torque “kick” at 3000-4000 rpm,...... it has caught me off guard a few times now on cold tyres. |

If you pay monthly by DD the premiums don't increase with BMW and given your mileage that may be a bonus |

I have had loads of warranty work done over the years on my Ms. My E60 M5 had around £25000 in warranty work, broke the think at least once a month, all on the AUC warranty. No fuss, no drama, take it in, they fix it. Not so sure the process with warranty direct etc would be as seamless or fast. I'll always run the BMW warranty on my Ms, just peace of mind on my part.

Coming up to 1 years ownership for me,63 LCI,Silverstone blue, black interior.one word-AWESOME.Only concern approaching end of BMW approved warranty, seriously thinking of extending warranty.Ive had both headlights replaced due to very bad condensation and front calliper replaced due to seized bleed valve, all 3 items would have cost approximately £1000 each.On a more positive note the acceleration is relentless, can feel my internal organs being pushed back when going for it.No regrets whatsoever.

Overall though I have to agree with the rest of this thread. It is a truly Awesome car. Astonishing speed point to point, a little lively in less than dry conditions but overall, wonderful.

Have now found this mod and completed it today!! Not happy with the “hold” on the jubilee clips I used so may go crazy and invest a further £5.80 in two more, slightly smaller ones and replace them. Love the Sport+ sound in Efficient (best oxymoron EVER) mode

I have this product, and it works great. It allows me to open and close the valves with just the push of a button. The install was pretty easy as well.

First of all commiserations to the OP for the divorce.
I am also moving from the V10 to the F10 :-) See what I did…. I love the V10, but it stops me from sleeping at night with the 4 main things that will go wrong. (SMG relay/clutch, Actuators, Solenoids, Rod Bearings). My CP 2014 Alpine White arrives today, its got factory black 343's which I hate. And will swap asap or powder coat to pink or something, anything other than black. Ok maybe not pink….

Lol, other than flogging the M5 it was the best thing ever for me and was some six years ago now.
On the bright side I got engaged on valentines day to the most gorgeous girl who shares my enthusiasm for my F10 M5. In fact she actively encourages me to give it a ragging often and has told me I must never sell it, so both the girl and the car are keepers for life Enjoy your M5, I absolutely adore mine. |
