I prefer the steering on a 3rd also. Much crisper and more responsive, but they are completely different cars.

I think the F10 was more of a move towards luxury than performance. The car feels too smooth and numb compared to the E60. It depends what you prefer.
Didn't want to hear that. I've drove an E350 and I hated the steering like I hate the steering on the Merc's I've driven because of the numb and smoothness of it and if the F10 is close to that, I'm a little disappointed. I know it's suppose to cater for the more mature driver but to miss out on that feedback with the steering, I'm a little sad.

It's too light for feedback. It's pretty much fake electronic feedback.

I honestly don't like the steering on my E60 when compared to the E90/E92.

The 1er and 3er have the type of steering that I like. It makes me feel secure and it's predictable. The E60 feels like the mature, luxury steering, then the F10 is just a whole other world.

This is just a 535 though, the steering is different on the F10 M5. Insideline says it feels like it's active steering since it's so quick and responsive. The F10 535 did not feel like that to me so it's hard to compare the two.

Take an F10 for a test drive. Let me know what you think, I'd be interested to hear another persons thoughts that has an E60.

My next one is going to be an E90/2 M3 or E60 M5. The F10 just isn't for me...it focuses less on driving and more on "bells and whistles".

Don't take this literally, but it just crossed my mind:

The e60 vs f10 feels like the e46 m3 VS the 335.

335 is much 'nicer' but e46 m3 is more of a drivers car.
Same goes with the f10. It's nicer but the e60 is more of a drivers car and driver oriented.

Is that the same direction M3/4's are headed toward?

Have you been inside the F10? It's absolutely huge, much bigger than the E60. I've driven plenty of E60s and we have an F10 so I can tell you that from the moment you sit inside it you notice it's almost in a different size category.

Other than that, the F10 is a beast and I can't wait to get behind the wheel of one. BMW may have fazed out a great N/A engine but the FI one that replaced it sure is worthy.
they probably confused it for Newton meters of e60? lol

Ok, to stop the steering wheel debate :

First thing's first: the M5 uses a hydraulic steering rack. No fancy active steering, and no electric assist. What does that mean? Well, driving down the cobblestone driveway of our Spanish hotel, I let out a big "it's alliiiiiiiiive!" Steering feel, even at 10 mph, is alive and well in the M5 - which is in distinct contrast to the rest of the 5-series lineup. BMW, I don't care about the 0.001 mpg saved by switching to electric power assist: clearly, this is the right solution. Bring back hydraulic steering on all 5- and 7-series, please.

Better yet, the steering is adjustable to three levels of weight: Comfort, which feels like a normal M product, Sport which is slightly heavier than, say, an M3, and is just plain perfect, and Sport Plus, which makes the steering wheel feel like it's attached to a bowl of split pea soup. It's way too heavy, and I say this not because I'm a weakling, but because the effort is so high but the self-centering tendency isn't: let go of the wheel around a corner and the car keeps turning. It feels unnatural.

Now only if they can do something about the weight.

M cars have never come with runflat tires!

It's down on displacement, more efficient and cleaner-burning, yet somehow it's still a ridiculously fast sport sedan that gives up nothing to its V10 predecessor.
