Both beautiful... I must say back when the E60 (body) was released it was not intsantly adored... the F10 is a much less daring design, but instantly perceived as gorgeous..
I remember seeing a pre-release E60 in NJ and was struck by how "Subaru" it looked at the time...

I'm really trying, but I'm just not a fan of the F10. That nose... ugh. (which sadly began on the new 7 and has trickled to the 3) They just scream 'old man' to me. But of course there's no arguing with the insanely good performance numbers.
The E60 is so sporty, to this day I still don't understand why people say it's a "non-BMW" style. To me it's one of the sexiest BMWs ever. |

Both cars are gorgeous! Putting performance aside... I love the style of the E60. Probably one of the most unique designs I have ever seen and still looks fresh.
The F10 is definitely classy and has a more universal appeal to it. Such a hard choice to choose between the two! Thanks for posting! |

And it won't look dated for awhile.

Really nice pics. I like the looks of both for different reasons. Because the e60 was such a departure from the traditional BMW lines (and sedans in general), it made its mark in the great history of the M5. Not to mention the v10 sounded sooo good. The f10 is an instant classic in the looks department as well as on the track. I was in turn 3 at Homestead Raceway in a 1M Coupe and a blur of Monte Carlo Blue passed me like I was doing 0mph. Later that evening the same M5 was on display at an M event and it looked just as impressive standing still. Thanks so much for sharing. Enjoy your M5!

F10 is a great M5, but still E60 will be missed...the looks, the sounds and the engine!

My E39 M5 was also Carbon Black and still miss it dearly. Never warmed up to the E60, and very happy with the F10 M5, and it is looking likely I will step into one (6-spd manual, but next yr after the LCI takes effect)

That is an excellent post. Well done! Shows how truly subtle the design changes really are. The F10 is definitely better looking of course . . . the long snoot and the lowered butt make all the difference !
