2 questions: why does air conditioning keep...
turning on when i start car (even though it is off before I turn off ignition). and how do I change default settings for power, steering, suspension, shifting? everytime I start the car, it defaults to comfort, comfort, efficiency mode, D1.
and yes, I RTFM. thanks!

In the E60, each driver's preferences were stored in the key. If you've been using comfort access, try inserting the key in the dash instead and then configure things the way you want them.
I'm still waiting on delivery of my F10, so no clue if this will help. |

At least in my F10, there is nothing to put the key into, and I don't have comfort access.

The only way I have found to change it is to set M1 and M2. I think that is why the M5 has two M settings instead of just one like the M3. With the M3 you could have the default set when you start the car. It doesn't seem like this is possible with the M5. So M1 is my default normal settings and M2 is for track or whatever.

I do have comfort access and the only place to put the key fob is a small square plastic area in the cup holder, but I seriously doubt it does anything other than give you a spot to put the keys like your favorite beverage nearby. |

M1 and M2 buttons will keep your settings; I use M1 for daily settings (comfort steering, comfort suspension, D2 shifting) and M2 for race-type of settings.
A/C is always on at start-up, and default settings are stored by key (HUD, lighting, etc).

It was this way in the E60s also. If A/C was off when the car was shut off, the A/C is on with the lowest fan setting when the car is turned on again.
