Speed limit information
Hi
I will buy a used BMW M5 F10. There is no Speed limit information in the car. Do you if I can buy an "upgrade or unlock" to get the Speed limit information ? Is it only software? I will post pictures |

To answer the second part of your question: You really need to order the car with the "8TH" option code. This is not a "software unlockable" option, and any type of aftermarket retrofit or solution looks improbable.
The reason I say this is because if you look at the windshield from outside of the car, where the mirror is, it says "Connected Drive" and there is a camera lens. This camera (hardware) looks out for and detects the road side speed signs, then uses GPS to verify the speed.. then it is displayed in the instrument panel and (if you have it) the HUD. |

ECE countries do have a Speed Limit Retrofit kit available, so long as the vehicle has the KAFAS camera. If your car has Lane Change/Departure Warning or Forward Collision Warning you have the necessary camera.
The retrofit is essentially an FSC code plus some coding. It's available in Conversions/Retrofits within ISTA/P at your dealer. You just have to pay for it.
