Busted Wheel Bearings
Has anyone else had an issue where their wheel bearings have to be replaced already? I'm barely at 6,800 miles and apparently both of my front wheel bearings have to be replaced already.
A fellow M5 owner in town has been having issues with his front wheels "clicking" as well, maybe this is a widespread issue? All started when my wheels would start "clicking" during turns at low speeds, would have to have the windows open to notice the noise - but it was pretty apparent. I do drive pretty 'spirited' on open road. Last edited by Protious; 04-08-2013 at 09:49 PM.. |

We'll see, the parts are already ordered - if it doesn't fix it it'll be pretty obvious.
The brakes are driving me insane though - so much screeching that I feel like I'm in a beater. |

On my M3 the front wheels are clicking during high speed hard turns, replaced bearings and still clicking. I can hear it only with the windows open.
Got used to it, car is driving like a charm otherwise.

Yep will let you know, I will say I also noticed a vibration when turning left at slow speeds (ie: Pulling out of my driveway).
Honestly though, with the brake calipers being "scuffed" and both my wheels bearings going out - I have a feeling I just drive it a bit too rough sometimes. |

I think I may have this caliper bearing problem. I only have 500 miles, but over rugged road or a bump, I hear like a squeaking sounds. It sounds like a lose body clip in front wheel well. But also when I turn at low speeds, my right front wheel squeaks with no brake applied.

I don't have squeeking, never have, but I do have the clicking noise that Rob///M5 has also had problems with. Gonna try to take my M5 in tomorrow to get it diagnosed and fixed.

I heard the click during my ED at low speeds. Annoying.

Sounds like this could be a widespread problem that is rearing its head at about the 6-10k mark. Please keep us posted on repairs.

Seriously? I went through this on a set of Stoptechs. Front rotors warped 3 times and 2 sets of pads, multiple bed ins exactly as instructed before finally getting them right. I'm getting a light squeal from very low speed to a stop and only have 2K on mine so far.

As for the vibration while turning left, it turned out to be the hydraulic steering line.. (or something in relation to that). Replaced and everything is good to go again, apparently this sort of issue was known to happen a lot in the 7 series. Too many issues with this car.. |

Regarding brake disc noise (squeaking), normally if you bed them in properly then it brings the noise output to a minimum. Many don't perform the bedding in process at all, and some attempt but do not bed-in properly (you can actually make the issue much worse by following an improper procedure). I am not an expert, but I have done a lot of research on this in the past and this method has worked for me on my M5's and P's. Give it a shot and let us know how you make out. This is how I bed-in my brakes.. click here for brake bedding in procedure.
