Canadian F10 M5 quote please help
Hi All,
I recently got a quote from an Ontario dealer for MY2013 M5, and have noticed some hefty dealer option/fees below in addition to what I usually see in a quote. Ride Green Certified = $399 Carpet Mat = $130 Green Levy = $3000 Gas/Wheel Lock = $139 Did any of you Canadian guys pay these? or these are all rip off and I should negotiate? I spoke with the sales guy, and he said the Ride Green is a MUST for all 2013 new orders and can't be removed?! they basically put nitrogen into tires rather than air. I think this is a rip off as I'll have to go back to dealership to add air?? Also, why the $3000 Green Levy tax on 2013 F10?? The Canadian government site data for M5 is from 2007, plus the F10 consumes less fuel compare to E60 M5, and the product planning broche from BMW Canada clearly stated that no green levy for the F10. Can any Canadian owners please comment? Thanks! |

wow. what dealer is this quoting you all these BS bogus fees that I have never heard before.
In Ontario, dealers have some hidden bogus fees but to that extent is totally unbelievable. For M5, these are common fees charged by GTA BMW dealers: Freight & PDI - $2095 (typical) but some charge as much as $2200 dealer admin fee - $399 (typical), some may charge $499 A/C tax - $100 OMVIC - $5 Tire levy - $23 (some dealers don't charge, like BMW Toronto & Parkview) Fuel - $90 (typical), some may charge $120 - $150 Bogus fees: Wheel locks $90 (BMW Toronto & Parkview - thrown in free of charge) Nitrogen air for tires - $70 Globali theft insurance/recovery coverage - $300 (not all dealers have this) mats - comes in carpet already - if you want rubber mats, don't pay .. simply write it into the purchase agreement I had bought car from BMW Toronto in the past and my M5 was bought from Town & Country in July 2012 (MY2013). The discount given at the time was 3.25% and some got as much as 5% (that I am aware of). Please note almost all the GTA dealers refused to give discount due to the hype of last year's M5 first appearance in Canada, since then, the hype has died down and I believe you should be able to get a discount of 5% without any major negotiation (MY 2013 or MY2014). Therefore, you should simply walk away from this dealer and contact a bunch of other dealers for their quote & fees. Do as much research as possible before buying/leasing. Lastly, do NOT buy from BMW Autohaus. They are the worst of the bunch. I like BMW Toronto & Town Country as they were willing to discount. Quote:

I have heard of Unhaggle.com and I'm wondering if it's worth paying $100 to get a list of dealers to compete, does it work? I'm thinking to wait for the July LCI for F10 then order the 2014, do you think I can get at least 5% of MSRP? Does it really take 6 month from order to delivery, the dealer kept saying Canada is smaller market, and sounded like they won't give discount since M5 is not a regular 5, and it by order purchase only... FYI The full I got quote is below for MY13: MSRP OPTIONS FV93 - M5 Sedan = $101,500.00 ZWL - Executive Package = $9,500.00 LEA-FM - Full Merino Leather = $4,500.00 TOTAL MSRP = $115,500.00 DEALER OPTIONS AND CHARGES Ride Green = $399.00 CARPET MATS = $130.00 Freight = $900.00 PDI = $1,295.00 Admin Fee = $299.00 Ontario Tire Stewardship = $23.36 Air Conditioner Excise Tax = $100.00 Green Levy = $3,000.00 OMVIC transaction fee = $5.00 TOTAL SALES PRICE: $121,651.36 HST: = $15,814.68 Gas/Wheel Locks = $139.00 License Fee = $100.00 SUB TOTAL: $137,705.04 |

I cannot believe Parkview (prob. even BMW Toronto) is doing these bogus fees. Def. try TC for the quote next. Maranello & BMW Mississauga don't play ball much at all. Endras will not discount at all, not even a penny. If you have to, try all GTA dealers until you find one willing to play ball ... that's how I got mine done in the past.
No point in shelling out $100 for unhaggle. BMW margin on all their models are 9% (+ any factory to dealer incentives which they do not pass onto the consumers). Therefore, MY2013 is almost done for production and MY2014 will begin in July, 5-7% for MY2013 is totally do-able. 4-5% on MY2014 may need a bit of going back & forth. If you order in June 2013 for MY2014, you should get the car by mid August delivery. Looking at your quote fees again - license fee $100 .. that`s robbery. It should be $15-20 Quote:

Thanks again, on a side note on options...
I want the full Cohina Brown Merino individual, but I only see this as a $3000 option for Extended and not FULL Merino. How can I order this? I've seen some Canadian M5 with full. will they charge $4500 for the regular full merino then another $3000 for the Cohiba individual? That would be stupid. Also will individual color get the $400 special order hit? 2nd question, does your MY13 M5 rear seat fold? 40/60? I heard this is a option to pay extra in US, which makes no sense to me??? 3rd, B&O sound pack is not available for F10 5 and M5 in Canada, correct? This is sad news for me... Quote:

that`s a lot of $ for interior leather. Not sure about the added charge for such, you will have to ask the Sales Advisor. But it`s a special order, therefore, the $400 will apply.
2. rear seats do fold down completely. 40/60. In Canada, it`s included. 3. Not sure about B&O, unless you are spending hours & hours of driving each day, then it`s a personal preference. Otherwise, not worth the $ in my opinion. I would rather buy a nice set of wheels, like HRE or similar or other mods (if you are into this sort of thing). |

B&O not offered, however, I checked out the sound system and I have Beethoven ears unnecessary to go with B&O its hifi premium is alrdy good enough to make your saloon a club or a concert. |

B&O IS offered, I was pricing one out and it absolutely is available but it is not on their standard price list. From T&C, July 2012:
Bang and Olufsen sound system: Available through special order for CA: $5900 + $400.00 ZSP Special Order fee. You MUST ask for it and get a good sales person who will look it up for you (i.e. not from Maranello where they don't know anything and are too full of themselves). Go to T&C if you want, they are fantastic. We may be picking one up from them once all this LCI stuff clears itself up. If you do a search on dealer reviews, T&C comes up on top every time. They have a great rep. -J |

I have the full Cohiba Brown Individual. It was an $11,500 option + $400 service fee for the individual order. I had to have the CB there was no other color I wanted, and I couldn't live without the full leather interior. Did BMW Canada screw me? Yes. Was it worth it? Yes. Everyone that has seen my interior drools over it, it's beautiful. I would be curious as to what other Canadians will pay for this option as I am pretty sure I got boned. Also, my quote from BMW was 9,500 and I didn't know about the 11.5K until I was at the dealership picking the car up so that was a bit of a kick in the nuts.
