Anyone on here does work for the DOT and/ or city of NYC?
Why can't we build roads like those here? There clearly is an opportunity for an engineering firm to come in and actually do a decent job for the city and its people. I am not talking about maintaining the roads (municipalities have no money for that) but rather laying them down properly to begin with. I have heard the weather being too harsh countless times: the freezing temps, the snow/ salt etc. but scandinavian countries are just as cold in winter and the last time I was in Sweden and Norway their roads looked nothing like ours here. |

I don't see the attraction. See my thread on the road trip to Lubbock I made. I didn't have to slow down frequently for other cars like that. My car got topped to the limiter maximum several times and I held it there. On the part of the trip where there are more cars, they are usually miles in front and I can catch up to them and slow down reasonably then blow by them again. I did this several times on 84 this morning. Passed the cars doing 85 and ran to 130 or more just leaving them in the dust. The speed limit on most of those roads out there is 75mph. This autobahn is way too crowded for my taste.
