M5 Unlocked Dash Menu
M5 Unlocked Dash Menu
I have been using this a lot lately. I find Tank, Temperature, Speedo/Rev, and a few others the most useful. Can anyone elaborate on what the more complicated ones are all about, such as "Check"? I believe "Start Roller" is what they use at the factory. At the last stage the vehicles are rolled on a dyno for a function check. It probably allows the machine to begin and turns off ESC so it doesn't interrupt the test. I plan to look through my coding laptop soon to see if the euro value formats can be changed or not. To Access: Hold ODO reset button down until menu appears. Just be careful that you don't accidentally get into the CBS (condition based service) area. I will attach a screenshot so you can see what is CBS and what is the unlocked dash menu. To Navigate: Short press to move up/down. Long press to select/return to parent menu. Unlock Code: Sum of last seven numbers in your VIN. Example: M105510 = Unlock Code: 12 Menu Structure (Unlocked) 01 Identification 02 System Test 03 Start Roller 04 Test End 10 Unlock 11 Consumption 12 Range 13 Tank 14 Temperature 15 BC-O 16 Speedo/Rev 17 System Voltage 18 Acoustics 19 Error Codes 20 Dimming LCD 21 Dimming PWM 22 CBS 23 Check 24 Correct Factor 25 Software Reset Here is what's shown within the above menus. _____Identification_____ Conv Index 71441 1/mls BTLD 06 00 00 0D 81 01 00 04 Hardware 01 00 00 0D 89 01 00 00 SWFL1 08 00 00 0D 83 01 14 00 SWFL2 08 00 00 0D 84 01 15 00 SWFL3 08 00 00 0D 85 01 07 00 SWFL4 08 00 00 0D 87 01 07 00 SWFL5 08 00 00 0D 86 01 09 00 SWFL6 07 00 00 0D 82 01 00 0A CAFD 05 00 00 00 69 09 01 04 HWT1 02 00 00 0D 88 00 00 00 HWT2 02 00 00 01 42 00 00 00 VIN M105510 HW Index 01 00 Manufact 01.03.2013 (dd.mm.yyyy) Company 00 00 08 StdCore 06.07.02 _____System Test_____ Start System Test ? _____Start Roller_____ Mode (ESC OFF) ? _____End Test_____ End Test ? _____Unlock_____ Unlock Code 00 _____Consumption_____ Consumption Dist 17.4 l/100km Consumption Time 0.0 l/h _____Range_____ Range Consumpt 13.6 l/100km Range 308 km _____Tank_____ Tank Left 457 ohm Tank Right 437 ohm Tank Left 20.3 l Tank Right 17.9 l Tank Total 38.2 l Display Value 41.9 l Tank Phase 1 _____Temperature_____ O Temp Sensor 197 ADC O Temp Raw Data +24.7 C Coolant Temp +25 C Oil Temp +26 C _____BC-O_____ Liter Counter 35.5 l Time Counter 19062 s Distance Counter 184.9 km _____Speedo/Rev_____ v CAN 0 km/h v Pointer 0 km/h Cruise Control 0 km/h Rev Counter 0 1/min _____System Voltage_____ System Voltage 11.8 V (engine off) _____Acoustics_____ Acoustics ? _____Error Codes_____ No. DTC Env1[km Env2[s] Active 01 02 03 _____Dimming LCD_____ LCD Temp Sensor 2F7 ADC LCD Temperature +32 C Light Sensor 053 ADC LCD Luminance 3F _____Dimming PWM_____ Dimming Wheel FE Display 1527 LED Red 1527 Scales/Pt White 665 Scales Pt Orange 0 Corona 5920 Corona Closing 272 Underfloor Pointer 2507 Status Lights 2000 Status Lights Blue 0 _____CBS_____ KM/Year Short-Term 16000 km Service Call Status 0 Limit Time 255 month Limit Distance 51000 km _____Check_____ No. CC-ID KM Active 01 0557 004372 0 02 0557 004385 0 03 0557 004432 0 04 0557 004498 0 05 0557 004569 0 06 0557 004618 0 07 0557 004629 0 08 0557 004641 0 09 0557 004681 0 10 0557 004681 0 *11 THRU 39 TRUNCATED* 40 0557 005413 0 40 0557 005413 0 40 0557 005413 0 40 0557 005413 0 _____Correct Factor_____ Change Factor ? The hidden/unlocked dash menu is basically for showing advanced informational data.. like exact temperature of oil and coolant, exact amount of gas in the tanks, and etc info as shown above. There is also something called coding where you can "code" different modules in the M5. If you want to make the ventilated seats more effective, that is something that can be coded - however this is unrelated to the hidden dash menu. There are tons of other modules and features that can be coded.. like showing tire pressure and temp, folding mirrors when car is locked, and many many others. I have a PDF of features that can be coded and what modules they are within. It can be found in the navigation/iDrive/audio fourm as a sticky named M5 Coding List.

very interesting info Avlnch
will try to access it today do you think there is a way to change oil changes intervals in CBS through this settings or it needs to be coded? cause as we know LCI's m5 have their oil change intervals shortened by half, i would love to have it in my car as well as i have service pack and don't see a point paying for mid-cycle oil changes myself, when exact same engine in exact same car with new lights and new steering wheel gets it for free! i spoke to my technician from bmw, he said he will talk to main M technician, but he is a bit of a c***, took my technician to convince main M tech to change my suspension (due to known clunking noise) 3 weeks! so i doubt they will reprogram my CBS ! but there should be a way to trick them |

So i would assume we could use this if we dyno now for better results due to open hood, front tires not rolling ect>?

I have a feeling it's only meant to work when it's plugged into the BMW factory computer/dyno.
When you start it, no light or indicators appear. But, it's worth a try next time you dyno your M5. It would be nice if it were some special ECU mode for when on a dyno.
