Do we [or more precisely you] know exactly what the dinan software has and doesn't have control of? |

No, I just bought the box, there is no information on the site about what they can and cannot control but I think airflow is part of the mix since they require the cold air intake.

If I brought my car in Friday morning for something as simple as a piggyback and a cold air intake and by Tuesday afternoon I still didn't have my car back, I would be pretty mad.

They ended up not working on it Friday because the tech that does this stuff was out. The cold air intake is a 6hr job on it's own. It's mildly annoying but I have he car back now, why should I get upset? What is the point? Doesn't change anything if I want the best tech for the job. I could have had another guy and gotten it back sooner but I chose to wait for the guy that always works on my car and who happens to be the Dinan tech as well.

Here are pictures of the intake as installed
I asked the SA where the DTronics was and he said he didn't know because he was swamped and didn't get to go back and see them put it in. So I have no clue, anyone else has an idea, let me know. I sure don't see how it's a half hour job to jam a BMS in there given the tightness of this compartment.
Car definitely seems to have more jump under the accelerator in sport plus and not as much in sport but does have more. I left the dealership and floored it with my M1 button on and that is S3 sport and comfort, comfort. The DSC light came on a lot, normally it doesn't do that so much with M1. So I put it in MDM and sport plus and the car seemed more responsive. There also seem to be more burbles and burps in the exhaust note on acceleration which I would assume is related to the cold air intake. Won't really know how this performs until I take it out and run it. I am glad to get my car back. |

Well, very true everything you said. Good point on the cold air intake work and installation hours. Hopefully the car just needs to adapt to the piggyback and you will notice it more. Definitely should update us tomorrow and over the next few days as to impressions and any difference.

looks good. I am waiting for your impressions b4 making the trip to Nashville to have it installed on mine. Looking at the pics, the intake looks good, but I doubt it took 6 hours to install it. I've had mine all the way out and it didn't take that long to remove and replace. The pics on Dinan's site show it only replaces the top of the stock airbox. and adds the two runners to the area in front of the radiator support, but I could be wrong... Please post the new VBox #s. Also, did the Tech say if the computer would take some time to adjust to the new tune??
Congrats Bill |

Why don't you put it on a dyno and see what it really makes? V-box times are good, but to many variables. If you want, I will offer the use of my Dynojet. We can dyno my M5 and then yours..
