Max Power = DSC OFF.... Right?
Hey guys... So I'm pretty certain I know the answer here, but I thought I'd pose the question to see what other details you all might be able to share.
So, in order to get the full power out of the engine, I need to completely turn off DSC, right? If I put it into MDM the computer still pulls power/applies brakes? As soon as it starts to spin...? Or a little after it starts to spin? So, when YOU want to get max power out of the car, what set up do YOU go with?

If you are spinning you are losing performance anyways... You will probably want to leave it in MDM if you have to ask this question. It will modulate throttle and wheel spin to keep traction -- which will get you moving faster.

Plus, DSC off allows you to lose control of the car easily if you don't know what to expect, I wouldn't advise it without doing MDM for a while. Full power is sport plus gas, DSC off and S3 on the shifting. You can easily wrap the car around a pole if you aren't careful in that setup. For sure you better have it pointed straight, no accelerating in a corner without having learned to drift. If you hit the accelerator with the wheels turned and in that mode, you will probably lose control. |

Even with it pointing straight you still run the risk of going sideways (not even risk, you will most likely go sideways)

Please don't mistake the question for lack of experience. Simply a lack of intimate knowledge of this particular car. I'm trying to understand what others are doing with the car. As well as simply get a sense on what the electronics are doing to invoke the DSC. It's worth noting that this is not close to the most powerful car I've had. It's a long list including a nasty 9-sec street legal '87 formula back in the late 90's. A consistent 10-sec '99 hardtop Z28. More recently had a stroked and Pro-charged '10 SRT8 Jeep putting down right around 700hp to the wheels. Thanks!

I think you always have max power available from the engine. The changes you make through the various settings affect whether and what level of intervention is applied for you.

I guess I need to do more reading of the technical manuals to get to the info I'm looking for. I thought there'd be more insight from the community.

When stock with new tires, learning to drive it with DSC off wasnt bad. Easy to know when and how to adjust the pedal to accommodate traction.
I feel like with more power than stock (BMS tune, add-ons, etc). MDM gets to the point of being overly invasive that I can't imagine you couldn't do substantially better with DSC off. However, when turning it off (even when going straight) it gets sideways a lot easier (Didnt have the problem until BMS install). I heard the 2014 MDM is not as invasive? Get some open road or real open area, do some launches, some rolls get familiar with the car. That's what I would like to do to, just havent had the time or the road yet. |

I would agree...the throttle is much more smooth and less sensitive than any other high HP car I've had before. Though maybe that's indicative of turbo? This is my first turbo car.
