Hi all!
I recently ordered a 2016 M5 which is currently pending production. Apparently when the car arrives at the U.S. port, it must be delivered to the performance center in South Carolina. Although I am excited to visit the center, I'm facing a huge dilemma to get the car home. I live in Boston, MA which is ~900mi (18+hrs) away from the center. Has anyone taken delivery at South Carolina who could help me with an alternative to driving the car home? Aside from the 18 hours of driving the car is a lease so putting almost a month's worth of miles in a few days is crazy. Looked into towing but it seems the car cannot be picked up directly from the center and the tow companies do not give an exact pick-up time. A real pain in the ass! What does one do? : Thanks! Did you order from a local dealer?
Who stated you "must" take delivery 900 miles away? I believe it's an "option"

No unfortunately not a local dealer. They are located on the west coast and are telling me that dealers here don't want to work with them to arrange a 'courtesy delivery' from another dealership.

Regardless, I would walk into your local dealership and introduce yourself to the Service and Parts Director and tell them you plan to service your vehicle there and ask to take delivery with them. Establishing a local relationship is going to be necessary so might as well start now. Your vehicle is a source of revenue. If they don't agree, pick another dealership.

I can comment on this a little bit, as I had a similar situation. I bought from a dealer in Ohio when I lived in Alabama and I did ED. When I had it re-delivered, I chose to take the delivery at the PC in SC. It was my choice, but here were the options I was presented with:
1) delivery at dealer in Ohio. 2) delivery at PC in SC. 3) delivery at a Local dealer with the local dealer adding a car prep and delivery fee of ~$500. I suspect option 3 is available to you, but it will be a cost item. I don't think the amount is written in stone and it will vary by dealer. |

I believe there is an option to have your car delivered to your home after receipt at PCD; however, you are responsible for all arrangements including payment.

Call the PCD and they will arrange to have the car shipped to your house at your expense.....or you can find a truck to pick it up and have it shipped to your house for cheaper I believe.
