Reliable ignition coils for the S63TU motor?
I don't currently have a problem with my coils, but think it prudent to buy 8 to have on hand. When I looked into getting them I never realized there would be so many choices of manufacturers. I believe Bosch is the OEM brand, but are there other brands that have proven reliable? The prices are all over the place with various retailers asking more for Delphi than Bosch, and another the reverse, odd. So, if you have had personal experience with a brand please share the part number and tell us if they were good or bad. Thanks.

I have used both Bosch and Delphi and a few others, they are all the same - keep the plugs fresh and gapped correctly and they last, get a bad plug, to big a gap etc, the extra load sees the coil off very quickly due to the high loads and temps.

I don't know what the OEM spark plug is, but after looking around it seems to me that the NGK 97506 iridium center and platinum ground is the plug I'll use. Denso has what they call an iridium plug, but it has a nickel ground electrode. Thanks for your input.

I was talking coils but Bosch is the OEM provider of plugs for certain but a lot of tuners like BMS etc use equivelent NGK or slighly colder heat range with success on high out put tunes - apart from Allmotor most here aren't pushing the limits other than plug gaps.

At what power levels do you recommend going colder? I'm about 100hp over stock myself.
Edit - just answered my own question. Can you tell us the part number of the colder plugs? |

Too cold has the downside of fouling sooner, but I hope the JB4, BCM and meth will justify two steps vs one step.

I was on mobile so I didn't see signature, sorry. Hopefully HCP/Halim has a stage 3 as well or at least in the works since I'm happy with his stage 2.

These happen to be NGK's like the ones mentioned above, something different and would you know what makes them different, any issues running them, etc? I just don't wanna buy $120 worth of plugs when I could get $80 worth and get the same results.

Regarding cost, should be able to get these for about $80 as well. Dealer pricing or online. I'll see if I can find the link. Here is a excerpt directly from NGK when compression is raised, along with the added power comes added heat. Since spark plugs must remove heat and a modified engine makes more heat, the spark plug must remove more heat. A colder heat range spark plug must be selected and plug gaps should be adjusted smaller to ensure proper ignitability in this denser air-fuel mixture.

So long as it's not required to be a fancier plug like w/ an ///M logo like what comes stock (and the adjusted price to go with that logo), I'll just search for N55 plugs and gap them down to .18
I'll go a step colder for now since I've yet to install the JB4 and use it as a meth controller. Once I go meth and start upping boost above and beyond my stage 2 tune, I'll go two steps. Thanks

2 steps colder plugs in the mail directly from BMS, cost $127 shipped...I couldn't find them cheaper.
HCP/Halim stage 2 tune only, no issues. HCP with JB4 map 1, no issues. HCP with JB4 map 2, initially was great, adjusted FF from 0 to 30, which has then self adjusted itself up to 100 and misfires coupled with CEL and Reduced Power start happening. HCP with JB4 map 3, ditto of map 2 but it happens faster. HCP with JB4 map 6, custom adjusted to 21psi...total monster so long as I feather the throttle enough to keep the misfires from happening. I still haven't seen a link for ignition coils themselves short of going to the stealership. I have seen a link for the S63TU that's coils and plugs but I don't recall any reviews.
